Max

We are proud to announce the arrival of the newest member of the Flanders family...our dog Max. He came from some friends of ours that could no longer keep him. The boys absolutely love him. Max has been trained well. He can sit, lay down, shake hands, fetch, and hi-five. He really is a great dog and we are very excited to have him.

Legislative Conference at Mackinac Island

Mackinac Island is one of our favorite places in the world. Elisabeth's dad, Senator Mike Green, asked us to accompany him and Mom to the Bi-Annual Legislative Conference at the Grand Hotel on the Island. We had a great time and met many state and federal congressmen as well as several Presidential candidates. The food was great, the lodging elegant, and the time with family unforgettable. Thanks, Mom and Dad Green for letting us tag along!

Shot of My Life

Last week, I had the privilege to rekindle some long time friends at Mio Baptist Church. I went early to golf with my old golfing buddy, Mike Willobee. While golfing, I experience the shot of my life on hole #10. It is a 325 yd par 4 and my drive bounced on the green and rolled just inches from the hole, stopping about 3 ft past the hole! My hear did skip a beat as I watched. Trembling, I sunk the putt for an eagle. I certainly hope to have that type of shot but I doubt it. Hey, even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while:). The pictures are the "proof".

Vacation Wrap Up

The Flanders Family Vacation is now complete, and we had a wonderful time! The remainder of our days in Virginia were spent at the ocean, resort, and at a small amusement park. Here are a few more pictures from vacation. We are looking forward to starting school next Monday, and to the start of an exciting fall at church. Thank you for your prayers while we were away.

Gone Fishing!

Last Monday, the boys and I went with a couple men from church to a nearby fishing pond. After about an hour and a half of fishing, we had 41 bluegill in the bucket. The boys just had to take them home and cook them so we gutted them, battered them, grilled them, and ate them. Well, some of us ate them anyway. Andrew had by far the biggest appetite for fresh bluegill. We had a lot of fun together anyway.

VBS Recap

Well, it has been a week of seeing God to and "exceeding, abundantly above" work at our church through VBS. We had a high night of 126 kids with 39 parents and family registered. We also had around 45 workers each night. This means that on Parents night, there were well over 200 people at vbs! We were thrilled to see the auditorium full and to see God at work. We are also praising the Lord for well over 30 salvation decision. Today in our morning service, there were at least 4 entire families (parents and children) who came to church as a result of VBS. Needless to say, there is much to praise the Lord for and much follow up work to be done. Praise the Lord for answered prayer, for the willing servants at LBS, and for the power of the gospel!

"Frontierland" VBS

Just a note to praise the Lord for what He is doing at VBS. Last night, 87 kids came for vbs, and so far there have been around 25 kids saved!! It has been a wonderful week and there are yet two more nights to go. Please pray for tonight and especially for Thursday night which is Parent's night. We are praying for many parents to attend and for at least 1 new family to attend church on Sunday.

Updated Pictures of the House

We are so thankful for the home the Lord has given us. There have been ongoing renovations since we moved in and there is still work to be done. I thought I would pass along a few updated pictures of our progress. Included is our front living room, master bed room, laundry room (John and a man from church did the tiling!) and kitchen. John is most proud of the pool which is finally sparkling clean!

Evening Service at the Flanders'

Last Sunday we had the privilege of hosting a church service and fellowship at our home. It was a real joy to have our whole church family over to our house. Several of the men from our church brought their banjos and guitars to play for the festivities. It was a great night together!

First Game of Little League

Tonight was the first game of Little League for Micah, Andrew, and Caleb. They play in the town of Burton. Andrew and Caleb are in Teeball, and Micah is in the 9-10 year old division. They play with several of their friends from church. Both teams won, and all the boys had a great time! Hope you enjoy the pics!

Andrew's Kindergarten Graduation

Last week, our little Andrew graduated from Kindergarten. We were very proud of both of the boys this year. Both Micah and Andrew finished the year on the all A's list, and both of them received the citizenship award for their class which is the top award for overall behavior. We are so thankful for our boys and pray for God's continued working in their lives. Congratulations Andrew!

Caleb and Megan's Birthdays!

Our family just celebrated two important birthdays! Caleb turned 5 on April 13, and Megan turned 2 on May 17th. Caleb got a bike, and Megan continued to get miniature versions of everything domestic. She is quite the young lady! Hope you enjoy the coverage of the birthdays.

Quick Update

Where has the time gone?! My last post was around 2 months ago... a lot has happened since then. Tons of house renovation (all new carpet, paint, tile, etc), a senior trip to Philadelphia with our homeschoolers, the baptisms of Micah, Andrew, and Caleb, as well as Andrew's Kind. graduation. I will soon post some pictures of all of these events. Thank you for your prayers and interest. Please pray for the summer outreaches of Landmark Baptist Church. We are trying to get to every house in Clio this summer with church brochures, tracts, and vbs flyers. May the Lord use us to reach many in the Clio area!

Until the next post...

Closing Day

Today was our closing day on the house. You may ask what it takes to buy a house... count carpeltunnel as a qualification. At closing, I must have signed one paper for every square foot of the house. We ate out and I had to sign the reciept and I had to muster the strength to get it done. Anyway, an hours worth of signatures and we got the keys!!!

After closing, we met my mom and the boys at the house. The kids had never been on the propert before today. When we went in the house, Andrew saw the living room and said "Alright! this could be our wrestling room!". The kids were so excited! The went from room to room doing summersaults and jumping up and down. The highlight for them must have been when they saw their bedrooms. Needless to say, today was a day that the Flanders family will not soon forget. We believe that our God has given us the house that he reserved just for us. God is SO GOOD!

Here are some other pictures of the boys on the property. The house is has 5 bedrooms and 2600 sq. ft., not counting the basement. The pole barn is 30 x 60. It sits on 2 wooded acresand has a nice sized poarch and above ground swimming pool. Our target date for move in is April 9th. Please pray for the work will be done these next 9 days. To God be the Glory!
