Max
We are proud to announce the arrival of the newest member of the Flanders family...our dog Max. He came from some friends of ours that could no longer keep him. The boys absolutely love him. Max has been trained well. He can sit, lay down, shake hands, fetch, and hi-five. He really is a great dog and we are very excited to have him.

Legislative Conference at Mackinac Island
Mackinac Island is one of our favorite places in the world. Elisabeth's dad, Senator Mike Green, asked us to accompany him and Mom to the Bi-Annual Legislative Conference at the Grand Hotel on the Island. We had a great time and met many state and federal congressmen as well as several Presidential candidates. The food was great, the lodging elegant, and the time with family unforgettable. Thanks, Mom and Dad Green for letting us tag along!
Shot of My Life
Last week, I had the privilege to rekindle some long time friends at Mio Baptist Church. I went early to golf with my old golfing buddy, Mike Willobee. While golfing, I experience the shot of my life on hole #10. It is a 325 yd par 4 and my drive bounced on the green and rolled just inches from the hole, stopping about 3 ft past the hole! My hear did skip a beat as I watched. Trembling, I sunk the putt for an eagle. I certainly hope to have that type of shot but I doubt it. Hey, even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while:). The pictures are the "proof".

Vacation Wrap Up
The Flanders Family Vacation is now complete, and we had a wonderful time! The remainder of our days in Virginia were spent at the ocean, resort, and at a small amusement park. Here are a few more pictures from vacation. We are looking forward to starting school next Monday, and to the start of an exciting fall at church. Thank you for your prayers while we were away.

Gone Fishing!
Last Monday, the boys and I went with a couple men from church to a nearby fishing pond. After about an hour and a half of fishing, we had 41 bluegill in the bucket. The boys just had to take them home and cook them so we gutted them, battered them, grilled them, and ate them. Well, some of us ate them anyway. Andrew had by far the biggest appetite for fresh bluegill. We had a lot of fun together anyway.

VBS Recap
Well, it has been a week of seeing God to and "exceeding, abundantly above" work at our church through VBS. We had a high night of 126 kids with 39 parents and family registered. We also had around 45 workers each night. This means that on Parents night, there were well over 200 people at vbs! We were thrilled to see the auditorium full and to see God at work. We are also praising the Lord for well over 30 salvation decision. Today in our morning service, there were at least 4 entire families (parents and children) who came to church as a result of VBS. Needless to say, there is much to praise the Lord for and much follow up work to be done. Praise the Lord for answered prayer, for the willing servants at LBS, and for the power of the gospel!

"Frontierland" VBS
Just a note to praise the Lord for what He is doing at VBS. Last night, 87 kids came for vbs, and so far there have been around 25 kids saved!! It has been a wonderful week and there are yet two more nights to go. Please pray for tonight and especially for Thursday night which is Parent's night. We are praying for many parents to attend and for at least 1 new family to attend church on Sunday.

Updated Pictures of the House
We are so thankful for the home the Lord has given us. There have been ongoing renovations since we moved in and there is still work to be done. I thought I would pass along a few updated pictures of our progress. Included is our front living room, master bed room, laundry room (John and a man from church did the tiling!) and kitchen. John is most proud of the pool which is finally sparkling clean!
